X Graphics Integration

X Graphics and Active Sky X can integrate together in order to provide weather-influenced texture selections.

To use this functionality, you simply need to have ASX and X Graphics installed, either on the same machine or two different ones.  When you specify your flight plan in ASX and X Graphics is found on the same system, you will be prompted to answer OK or CANCEL to Installation of X Graphics wx-influenced textures.  If you choose OK the average route wx conditions will be sent to X Graphics, selections will be made, and the installation will complete automatically.

If you do not have X Graphics installed on the same machine as ASX, you can use the "Wx-influenced" button within X Graphics (options screen) to automatically load ASX's weather conditions and select/install automatically.

Alternatively to having the route conditions used for wx-influenced selections, you can manually specify the station to use for conditions by using the Report Screen and clicking the "Install X Graphics Textures" button.

Notes

  • Wx-influenced selections are made using either the specified station's weather or the route average weather conditions.

  • Variables such as surface and aloft wind speed, precipitation, cloud coverage and visibility are used to make influences in a randomly-biased selection process.

  • Wx-influenced selections are still very random, and will not always choose a specific set of textures for a given condition.  This provides realism as well as variation.

  • If you do not want certain texture categories to be installed via wx-influenced selections, you can uncheck those texture items in the X Graphics Advanced Options area.

See the X Graphics documentation for more information on texture selection processes.
